The Three Ages of Woman

This work, composed of three small paintings, follows the arc of a woman’s life—childhood, youth, and old age – echoing the rhythm of Shakespeare’s Seven Ages of Man. Life unfolds with great fullness and intensity, yet slips past us with quiet brevity. Here, that truth is held in the language of images.

Age-1 of Three Ages of Woman
In childhood, she dwells in a world of wonder. Bubbles drift through a sunlit room—luminous, weightless, and fleeting—symbols of a joy both exquisite and fragile. As in much of art history, they speak of the tender vulnerability of youth and beauty.
Age-2 of Three Ages of Woman
In youth, her gaze turns forward. Seated before a mirror, she labours over a white garment - perhaps a wedding dress - shaping the hopes she carries within her. The mirror, so often a sign of vanity, becomes instead a place of reflection: a gentle call to live with both joy and awareness.
In old age, she sits in stillness, accompanied by memory. A letter rests in her hands, perhaps from a distant child. There is a quiet ache here, yet also a deep fullness. For a life given in love does not fade - it endures, carried forward in memory, and in the lives formed by her care.

$420 the set, plus $20 for postage & handling.

These three images called ” The Three Ages of Woman” are available as A4 fine art prints, signed by the artist. They would make a lovely gift for your Mum, ready to be framed as a gesture of honour and appreciation for all that she means.

They tell the story of what it is to be a woman and a mother… A life of love and growth in giving.
